Rest In Peace Brian

It is with deep regret that the members of the Phoenixville Fire Department announces the sudden passing of Deputy Fire Chief Brian Gallagher at the age of 59. Brian was a member of Phoenix Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. since 1976, Kimberton Fire Company since 1972, he was the past president of the Northern Chester County Fire Chief’s Association, a past Pennsylvania Fire Academy Instructor, and he retired after 30 years from the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office. But more than anything Brian was a mentor to many, a friend, a leader and an example of what a great firefighter should be. To all that have ever met him he was inviting and full of a wealth of knowledge. The Ludwigs Corner Fire Company sends its deepest sympathies to the members of the Phoenixville Fire Department and Kimberton Fire Company and to his friends and especially his family.

Morning the Loss of a Founder and a Friend

The Ludwigs Corner Fire Company is deeply saddened by the passing of a life and founding member, Henry F. Greiner. He passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at his home. Greiner is a family name at the LCFC. Henry, his daughter Jody Greiner Spangler, husband Bob Spangler, grandson Josh Spangler and wife Ashley Spangler and grandson Brian Greiner are all members. Henry was a man who always brought a smile to your face and always let you know how he felt. He along with a few other members of the community helped to start what is our great fire company today. Without his contributions we would not be what we are today. Outside of the fire company, Henry was the owner/operator of Greiner, Inc. in Glenmoore, retiring in 2010. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church and a member of many civic organizations. He had an overwhelming love of family especially for his grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8, at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 Fellowship Road, Chester Springs. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the America Diabetes Association 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004, or the American Heart Association , 1617 JFK Blvd, Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103. The condolences, thoughts and prayers of the LCFC goes out to Henry's family and friends. We will miss his smile and laughter and he will always be remembered as a man of great strength and wisdom. Rest in peach Henry we have it from here.

House Fire in West Vincent

Around 10:30pm on Sunday May 3rd, The LCFC was dispatched to a house fire on St. Anthony's Lane. The West Vincent Police Department was the first on the scene. Upon their arrival they notified that the house was fully involved. Crews rolled up very shortly after and started exterior operations. With the help of neighboring fire companies water supply was set up along with multiple hose lines and master streams to extinguish the fire. A Tanker task force was called in which brought a number of tankers and pumper/tankers to help get more water to the scene. Sadly the whole house was lost. Fortunately no one was home at the time of the fire. One good thing however happened on this night. One dog was able to uplift a gloomy scene to one of joy and amazement. The family dog, Bonnie, who is 13 years old was in the house when the fire broke out. Bonnie was trapped in the house with such immense heat that nobody thought she would be found alive. When starting overhaul operations and heavy equipment brought in to move parts of the collapsed structure a dog came running to the crew. Bonnie was alive! This fire was a large one and crews were onscene till the early morning hours Monday. Units Onscene: Station 73 (Ludwigs Corner Fire Company) Chief 73 (R. Hahn), Deputy 73 (J. Kimes), Safety 73 (M. Blumenthal), Engine 73-1, Engine 73-2, Tanker 73, Rescue 73, Traffic 73. Station 62 (Ridge Fire Company) Station 61 (Kimberton Fire Company) Station 47 (Lionville Fire Company) Station 69 (Twin Valley Fire Department) Station 48 (Glenmoore Fire Company) Station 49 (East Brandywine Fire Company) Station 5 (East Whiteland Fire Company) Station 64 (Norco Fire Company) Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal West Vincent Police Department W. K. Frame and Sons The LCFC would like to thank all of the companies that helped and supported us in all efforts on the scene and at our station.
