On March 27th, just before 1:00 a.m., LCFC and mutual aid agencies (East Whiteland, Glen Moore, Lionville, Kimberton, Ridge, and Uwchlan Ambulance) were dispatched to the unit block of Shawnee Court for smoke in the dwelling. The reporting party stated the smoke detectors were going off and the basement was filling with smoke. Battalion 47 arrived on scene first and confirmed there was a smoke condition in the basement, possibly due to a furnace malfunction. Engine 73-1 arrived as the first due engine with Deputy 73 pulling in right behind 73-1. Deputy 73 established Shawnee Command while the crew from Engine 73-1 took a TIC (thermal imaging camera) and water can to the basement to investigate. Engine 73-5 and Squad 5 (East Whiteland) arrived on scene minutes later. The incident was scaled back to these units that were on-scene a short time later. Crews were able to isolate the issue to the furnace and ventilated the house. All crews cleared about 45 minutes after arriving on scene. |
