On Friday afternoon, LCFC was dispatched to the 300 block of Nantmeal Road for a brush fire, reported as a 20x30 area in a corn field burning.

Brush 73 arrived and reported a 30x50 area of the harvested corn field was burning and the fire had extended into the woods. The crew from Brush 73 immediately began fire suppression efforts. A woodland unit from the Natural Lands also was on-scene at this point and assisted with fire suppression. Engine 73-5, with a crew of 5, arrived a short time later and set-up a water supply to Brush 73 while the crew deployed additional hose lines from Brush 73. Lieutenant 73 established Nantmeal Road Command.

Due to the dry, windy conditions, two additional brush units and two tankers were requested. This brought in units from Glen Moore Fire Company and Ridge Fire Company. With the additional resources, crews were able to quickly knock down a bulk of the fire and worked to extinguish spot fires as they popped up and hot spots. The fire was placed under control approximately 40 minutes after dispatch and overhaul efforts continued for approximately another hour.

Thank you to Lionville Fire Company and West Whiteland Fire Company for standing by at our station while we operated at this call.

On Monday 8/19/2024, Ludwigs Corner Fire Co. along with Uwchlan Ambulance Corps completed a joint VRT (vehicle rescue training) at Station 73. The given scenario was a two car accident with one car overturned with an unconscious, trapped patient. Crews worked side by side to free the "victim". These types of trainings are crucial to keeping a good working relationship with our mutual aid partners and also serve as a great time for members of both organizations to learn new strategies and tactics associated with vehicle extrication and patient care.

We thank Uwchlan Ambulance for setting this up with us and we look forward to future joint trainings!
