On October 10 at 4:31 p.m., Station 73 along with Station 89 (Elverson-Honey Brook Area EMS) were dispatched to the area of Route 401 and Moores Road for an auto accident. The initial report indicated that two vehicles were involved with flames coming from the one vehicle. Chief 73 was the first to arrive on-scene and established Route 401 Command. Chief 73 advised the county that he had a two vehicle head-on crash with fire showing from the one vehicle. At this time, Command requested additional fire police from Station 73 and Station 69 (Twin Valley Fire Department) to shut down Route 401 in both directions. Additionally, due to the number of patients injured, he also requested two additional ALS units. This added MICU 87-3 (Uwchlan Ambulance) and MICU 46-3 (Minquas Fire Company). QRS 73 was the first EMS unit to arrive on-scene and the crew immediately began patient care.

Engine 73-1 was the first fire apparatus on-scene. The fire had spread to the second vehicle, so the crew from 73-1 stretched the bumper line and quickly put a knock on the fire in both vehicles. Rescue 73 and Engine 73-2 also made the response for this incident. Crews were on-scene for approximately one hour before clearing and returning to the station.
